Reimagined here for four hands on fortepiano, it reveals new dimensions of resonance, color, and contrapuntal structure. Tempo Rubato is a piano duet devoted to the repertoire spanning the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Antonio Piricone and Megumi Tanno, both specialists in early keyboard instruments and historically informed performance, trained at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under Stanley Hoogland and Bart van Oort. Since their debut in Tokyo in 2008, they have performed widely in Europe and Japan. In 2009, Tempo Rubato was awarded First Prize at the 15th Van Wassenaer Competition, one of the world's most respected international competitions for early music ensembles. Their performances have reached major venues including Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw, Eindhoven Muziekcentrum Frits Philips, and Utrecht's Vredenburg. A modern piano that does not imitate, not recreate an ancient sound, nor claim a definitive truth — but listens, responds, and breathes, with attention to gestures, breath, and the silences implied. Each page explores new characters - performed here with period articulation and historic balance. Tempo Rubato is a piano duet devoted to the repertoire spanning the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Antonio Piricone and Megumi Tanno, both specialists in early keyboard instruments and historically informed performance, trained at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under Stanley Hoogland and Bart van Oort. Since their debut in Tokyo in 2008, they have performed widely in Europe and Japan. In 2009, Tempo Rubato was awarded First Prize at the 15th Van Wassenaer Competition, one of the world's most respected international competitions for early music ensembles. Their performances have reached major venues including Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw, Eindhoven Muziekcentrum Frits Philips, and Utrecht's Vredenburg.
